Na slackware 14.1 nisam imao problema da instaliram binarni nvidia driver, prateci uputstvo:

pratio sam uputstvo u zelenom uokvirenom polju. U pitanju je binarni program koji zavrsava ceo posao. S tim da mora prvo jednom da se pokrene, on automatski blacklistuje nouveau i onda se restartuje komp pa ponovo pokrene program i on instalira i ukljuci modul.

Merdjutim ne radi na 14.2. Krene lepo i "mislim" da prvi put blacklistuje nouveau i onda restartujem komp i drugi put dodje do 100% i stane, e sad ne znam tacno koja je poruka, jer sam sad na mintu. Ali jel ima neki predlog?

Nisam probao preko slackbuilds, ali komplikovanije je tako i veca mogucnost greske. Neki savet?

Tek sledeće nedelje ću možda raditi upgrade na mašini koja ima Slackware (ako je hdd živ još uvek...), unutra je nvidia neka integrisana (zaboravio sam oznaku) pa ću tek tada imati neku informaciju iz prve ruke...

Do tada, aj nas podseti koju ono nvidiju imaš, jesi li radio upgrade ili clean instalaciju i vidi ako je nekako moguće da dostaviš još neki podatak, recimo poruku o grešci.

Uspeo sam da slikam.

Za svaki slucaj, instalirao sam xf86-video-nouveau... koji automatski blacklistuje, ali opet mi istu gresku izbacuje (u prilogu)

Nvidia GeForce 7025 / nForce 6035 tako nesto. Inace koristim za druge distribucije nvidia-legacy (304...)

Da cistu instalaciju sam odradio, nisam jos uradio update upgrade, ali sad cu...ono sto primecujem, jos uvek mi ne zakucava grafika, ali pojavljuju se greske u vidu trouglica i nekih nenadanih linija, sarenilo.

inace evo i slike o ucitanim modulima, stoji nvidiafb, to je kao neki frame baffer ili vec sta je, moyda je bolje bez njega...

Prinudjen sam sad da koristim ovako dok ne nadjem resenje, smeta, ali sta cu...ima na slackbuilds izgradnja dva dela driver i modul, pa me to buni ne znam kojim redom. pojesce me medjuzavisnosti.

E strava, proradilo mi. Sad radi fantazija. Sta sam uradio:

Izbrisao sam (slucajno) /etc/X11/xorg.conf

i napravio fajl:

/etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-installer-disable-nouveau.conf

koji sadrzi:

blacklist nouveau
options nouveau modeset=0

xorg.conf ti nije potreban već jako dugo vremena. X server automatski detektuje dostupni hardver. Ovo radi odlično u većini slučajeva, osim kad su u pitanju problematični drajveri (na primer za prastare grafike ili SiS integruše).

Po ovome što si napisao, u upotrebi je Nouveau, a ne propriatry drajver. Nouveau je open source drajver i u dosta slučaja radi sasvim solidno. Nvidijin drajver, doduše, ima bolje performanse i radi na svim podržanim grafičkim karticama, uključujući neke za koje podrška još nije implementirana u Nouveau. S druge strane, Nouveau ima podršku za mnogo veći broj kartica.

Baci pogled na /var/log/Xorg.0.log. Pogledaj koji se drajver učitava.

Jesi li restartovao računar? Unosi u modprobe.d se ne primenjuju automatski.

Inace, da, restartovao sam, kazem ti, sad radi sve perfektno, ne znam da li su svi resursi iskorisceni, ali ne makljam ga nesto previse :)

Da li si siguran da je ta grafika uopšte podržana propriatry drajverom? Da ti nije potreban legacy driver?

Nv je stariji drajver. Ima podršku samo za 2d akceleraciju. To ga čini upotrebljivim sa laganijm desktop okruženjima, ali sve što koristi OpenGL će biti problematično.

Nešto mislim da su dva loga iz prethodne dve poruke iz dva različita boota. Ovde vidimo da su pravila u "nvidia-installer-disable-nouveau.conf" primenjena. U suprotnom imaš problem sa instalacijom, pa ne bi bilo loše da proveriš Mesa/X11 instalaciju.

Mislim da bi ova grafika mogla da radi solidno sa Nouveau. Apsolutno sam siguran. Taj nvidia drajver mi je radio na 14.1 u sustini da legacy-drajver - ovako:

ovaj nvidia-legacy304-driver , njega koristim za druge distribucije, pod tim imenom, ubuntu, mint, debian, svi oni koriste taj drajver za moju grafiku.

Ali properties driver NVIDIA (bin) sadrzi sve te drajvere, cini mi se:

to je taj drajver.

Ok, bocke, shvatam da nesto ne radi kako treba, kako da instaliram legacy drajver + modul

Ili da ne diram nista, nisam probao skreensejvere, ali kazem ti lepo radi. bog ce ga znati.

Ovo je moja grafika: GeForce 7025 / NVIDIA nForce 630a

i taj 340 nece da moze, samo 304

proverio screensvere - odlicno rade, mislim da radi i open GL, ne znam, ne igram igrice... kad nadjem vremena, probacu evo legace iz slackbuilds, na tenane da ih instaliram, a mozda i nikad.

Inace, krs mi je komp, mora da menjam za godinu dve :) nece da se ubaci u hibernaciju, nece na stand by , samo paljenje i gasenje.

Jok. Legacy drajveri su stare verzije Nvidia drajvera. Trenutni drajver ne sadrži podršku za sve kartice iz legacy drajvera, samo za one koje Nvidia smatra aktuelnim.

Kako to da objasnim? U jednom trenutku Nvidia podeli drajver u dve verzije - glavni drajver i legacy drajver. Glavni drajver ima podršku samo za aktuelne karte, legacy ima podršku za neke starije modele. Ti stariji modeli su izbačeni iz glavnog. Moraš da koristiš legacy drajver.

Novi problem sa ovim je da je legacy drajver podržan samo neko ograničeno vreme, nakon čega NVidia obustavlja podršku. Zato postoji više legacy drajvera. I svaki od njih sadrži podršku za kartice koje nisu podržane u novijim verzijama legacy drajvera ili u glavnom.

Pa, eto. Onda znaš šta ti je činiti. :)
